My Husband says I Have Changed...

I enjoy the peaceful life which life on the Edge of Nowhere, rural Lincolnshire, affords us. I am quiet, I certainly do not like to draw attention to myself.

This afternoon we visited our local pub, The Railway Tavern, for a really enjoyable talk which was given by the landlord's daughter - Holly. More about that in a future post. George and I were separated - I enjoyed a pleasant chat with Joan, one of our lovely village elderswhile George propped up the bar and enjoyed a chat with Keith, the landlord.

The beer garden was mostly filled with families and walkers, enjoying some September sunshine. There was one table which was different, it had four young men sitting at it. George, it turned out, had chatted with all of them while they were at the bar, discovering that they are recording at the local music studios for the next few weeks. Of course he told me about them when I finally re-joined him, he knows what a newshound I have become since beginning this blog.

Naturally, I had to get my camera out ...purely for blogging purposes you understand. The fact that these four men were young and handsome had nothing to do with it. You can see by the wave that I had been spotted! I went over and said hello asking whether they minded me taking some photographs for my blog. They were charming and immediately shuffled along the bench offering to make room so that I could be photographed with them, which was sweet.

Sadly, I had to decline, I don't do publicity! :-D

However, I am very happy to publicise these young men. They are members of the German band SELIG, which means blessed. According to one item I read about them they are the biggest small band in Germany - here's hoping that their stint at the Chapel Studios in South Thoresby results in some big hits for SELIG.

Best of luck boys - and thank you for being so sweet.

One Tree or Two?

I really enjoy visiting Arnold, I also enjoy seeing this magnificent tree - or is it two trees? It looks like two trees - but why would two trees be allowed to grow so close together? These are huge and have been cut back considerably over the years as they were reaching out to the house roof and the outbuildings. High up in the tree is a beautiful bird house, I think jackdaws are residence.Whatever lives up there will be well fed because John provides a very wide range of bird foods.

So, if anyone knows about trees and has any ideas about this/these I'd be grateful for your input.

Tumbulgum Rock

Today's original plan had been to link Wooyung with Ocean Shores via a dirt track. Unfortunately, yesterday's rain is likely to have turned that area into a bog, so I opted for something a bit closer to home. Tumbulgum Rock has always fascinated me when viewed from Farrants hill, basically because I had absolutely no idea what it was doing there. I'm still none the wiser on that, but at least I've managed a closer look at it.

Today's ride started in typical fashion with the usual ride down the coast and through Urliup. Today I was wondering just when the forecast rain was going to start, but somehow it just never quite happened. Parts of Urliup Road were quite boggy, which basically vindicated my decision to bail on Ocean Shores. Today I was almost grateful that the Blue Flame was off the road, the sturdier (and wider) tyres on The Blonde Assassin handled the mud a little better. I looped around after steadfastly avoiding Murwillumbah on Cane Road, and climbed Farrants Hill on Clothiers Creek road, for no reason other than I wanted a few more kilometres and this was a pleasant way to get them.

Eviron road descents from the modest heights of the Condong Range to the floor of the valley, where a tailwind pushed me all the way to The Rock. The recent rain has meant that nobody has been able to grow any sugar cane to try to obscure the views, but the two old farm houses at the base of the rock on either side suggested that climbing it was going to be extremely unlikely. This probably doesn't matter a great deal, as it isn't really high enough to generate any spectacular views. I'm planning on making up for that by climbing Bald Rock near Tenterfield later in the month.

All that was left now was the final climb of Tomewin to get home. Well, that wasn't quite all, I think the headwind on the coast slowed me down more than the mountain did. I have a habit of being rained on when I climb Tomewin, but inexplicably, this didn't happen today. It was a strange sort of day on the mountain, as I didn't seem to be climbing particularly well, yet I seemed to reach the summit faster than I thought I might. For all that, this wasn't a bad ride for it's length (a relatively modest 115km), and it might be a useful way to fill gaps in my riding calendar in the future -- assuming time allows me any more gaps in the future.

Foggy Sunrise in the Pigeon River Valley

Can you say.... W O W !!!!!!!!!! ? This was the scene I witnessedMonday morning after spending the entire night photographing the northern lights. I had noticed the fog along the river earlier in the night and decided to come back to this location for sunrise. It proved to be a worthwhile decision. As the sun rose over the hills and the light hit the fog in the valley, the colors and layers between fog and trees were breathtaking. This was photographed from the Pigeon River Helipad and Overlook along Otter Lake Road in Northeast Minnesota.

Love, Amalfi & You - A Poem by Travelista73

I stood outside, the warm summer rays caressing my skin, and I longed for you. Wishing I could relive those moments forever. Time spent in your embrace starring out onto the brilliant sea of Amalfi. Warm caresses, sweet kisses, love shared with you. ..

Grandpa Ott

Morning Bokeh, originally uploaded by ParsecTraveller.

These are 'Grandpa Ott' morning glories. They have been doing very well despite being confined to a container. The 'Heavenly Blue' vines are much taller though, and lusher.

Awards, A Video and Thanks

I am so honored to have received Daisy Dog's "Awsome Paws Some Award" from Corcorue (http://luvbeingachihuahua.blogspot.com) and also from Daisy & Star (http://rileystar-mymaltesekiddos)!!! Thank you, thank you soooo much! As many of you pups have noted, the Purple Hatter has been ve-ry busy creating some incredibly artistic signage for bloggers. This one is very magical!!! I'd like to paw this on to Sugar (http://sugarthegoldenretriever.blogspot.com/), Sugar (hehee!) at http://i-need-a-sugar-fix.blogspot.com/, Africa (http://trainingboerboels.blogspot.com/, Marge at http://margebl0g.blogspot.com/ and to Brice and Princess Eva at http://tashaeva.blogspot.com/.Mom made a first attempt at adding a bit of music to spice up a sort of Part II to yesterday's W.W. - let's see if this link will take you there!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kGdx4UMuoQ
And as I mentioned, the Purple Hatter (see - and grab his button on left sidebar) has certainly been busy. After being gifted for the above award from Corcorue and Riley & Star, I had to go and see the award creator man's blog. So I visited and left a simple comment about all the activities going on there. Without even asking - POOF! I found a comment on a post that the Purple Hatter had made ME not one - but two awards! I love them both!!!! Thank you Mr. Hatter, oh lover of purple for these generous gifts - they are just amazing!
Love the kong in the picture below and adore the flower photo in the above award!
PLEASE feel free to take either or both of these awards - I feel so blessed to have such wonderful blogger friends. Hugs to you all xo
